Rehoming a 1959 Ponton

It was literally in a barn for years, but now it lives in a yard. Itís definitely a project car. It seems better than a parts donor, but definitely isnít drivable. I would like to see it find a home before it becomes scrap iron. Can anyone give me some advise about how to find a new home for the poor thing? It belongs to my dad who has an inflated idea of its value just because itís a Mercedes. But heís not going to do anything with it. I would like to come up with a reasonable value and get it out of the yard while it still has a chance. Itís a 1959 Ponton four-door hardtop, built in 1958, one tail light replaced but everything else is there. Working on some pics..

Might try BAT. They do a lot of Mercedes auctions. Call it a Barn find and people will be all over it.

There are several Ponton models. What model is yours? Despite the name being Bring A Trailer, they dont seem to take anything other than really nice cars these days.

Post some pictures and the model #, as well as your general location.

They do post project cars pretty often. I think they sell more Mercedes than any other.

Two ways the word on car for sale is getting out nationwide is the old standard of Craigslist, which invites endless scammers, and Facebook marketplace.

If you go the Craigslist route make sure to list it on the Tulsa, Dallas and Austin sites as well as your local one. There are a lot of Mercedes fans in those three areas.

What model is it? There should be a emblem on the trunk or, if there is no radio, on the radio delete plate.

The three digit number is what will tell what it is. For instance: 219s were popular as they had the normal body with the six cylinder engine and not the four.

Yup, that's what is really needed to know what you are dealing with.

When taking the photos don't neglect the interior. A radio, a passenger headrest, and the shape of the instrument panel are all indicators of value.
