Factory Service manual for 1972 MB 250C

I am looking for information on where to buy factory service manuals for a 250C. Should I be looking on Ebay? Thanks... G

Ebay
I got one cheap (lucky) with little description in listing. It turns out to be in near mint shape and 2" thick. Volume I. Service manual starting 1968 Series 114-115 Maintenance, tuning, unit replacement. I don't know what is in Volume II.

I saw two volumes one was a Service Manual the other was Chassis. I was hoping to find all manuals together and expected an electrical manual but did not see one. Price ranging anywhere from 41 dollars to 149 per manual.

Does anyone know if there are just two or is there an electical manual also?

Thanks .. Gary

I've got a copy of the service manual for these cars that was printed in '69, and everything is in one bound volume, including the electrical system. There's a note on the first page indicating that "This manual is complete as is".

I also have the "Body and Chassis" manual that was printed in '78, Volume 1, so at some point they began printing multiple volumes for these cars. This book has a "Group Index" that shows the electrical system sections being in Volume 2.

It's also handy to have a copy of the Spare Parts List. The engine manuals are separate.

the service manuals weren't originally packaged for individual car owners, which is why you find odd titles like those and things you would expect for "your car" aren't there.

The was a factory CD created 20 years ago that collected all the bits and pieces, for body, engine, climate control, electrical along with owner's manual & owner's parts guide. They got so heavily bootlegged, Benz owns sales dropped to the point where it wasn't sustainable to make a fresh run and they're gone.

First of all, I made a mistake in the year of the car, it is a 1971. And I have to ask, would you be interested in selling the 250C manuals you own? I need in depth information on the carb setup and the dreaded blower motor fix. Thanks glmoore0001@comcast.net if you care to talk by email.

Thanks for asking, but no, I won't sell the books I have. Yes, eBay is a good place to look for them.

Information on your carb setup could be found in another book, "Glenn's Mercedes-Benz Repair and Tune-Up Guide". According to my information your car was originally equipped with dual Zenith INAT 35/40 carbs, correct? The Glenn's book has in-depth information on rebuilding those carbs.

Have you tried searching these forums for information on the carbs and blower motor?

the carb manual is online jaimekop.com has them. Plus plenty of threads here in this veteran forum, not to mention old timers who have gone where you are going.

The manuals won't help with the blower motor fix. It's just "take everything apart" and then "installation is reverse of removal", which is one reason this is a dreaded job.

Again, plenty of tips and tricks from old threads here, like to how to correctly remove the instrument cluster without getting a quart of oil on the driver's carpets and how a spark plug will help with the heater valve repair. That and the constant reminder to disconnect the battery before messing with the ignition switch and its wiring.

I brought home a car yesterday. A 1971 250C. The Zenith 35/40 barely run. The rest of the car looks great. Luckily I ended up with a chassis manual, a copied engine manual and two digital service manuals. It appears the only thing lacking is the Technical Data Manual for 1971. I'm buying if you are selling. Gary

The blower motor is running. The plug was pulled and hooked direct to the battery and pumped air. Faulty wiring or switch issue apparently.

If your car has AC, there are TWO blower motors, with a vacuum servo and change-over switch mounted above the gas-pedal, to switch from heater-blower to AC-blower, depending on the position of the rotary AC-temperature control-knob.

Happy Motoring, Mark

The A\C is all there, but the compressor is in the trunk at this time
I need to get R12 hoses or an R12 complete gauge set so I can pull a vacuum on the system. I have the equipment to do 134A, but not R12.

Thanks for the comment. G

Yes, I have read quite a bit on the subject here already. I just need to figure out if it is a small job to make it run, or if I should go ahead and pull the carbs and start the rebuild. The car arrived in my driveway only yesterday.

Thank you for the Manual reference. I took your advice and purchased a copy on Ebay this morning.. G
