Looking to buy M130 engine for my 72 250C

Hi all,

This is my 1st post on here. I just recently purchased a 72 250C. I knew it needed engine work but when we opened up the engine the cylinder head, pistons and lower block was beyond repairable. I have contacted Metric Motors and they're asking for $11,000 to rebuild the engine, which I don't have. If you guys have any leads on any m130 engine please let me know. Thank you!

Check with Jason Birch, @rwd4evr

I’ve got an m130 motor with good compression, but it’s injected, not a dual zenith motor you are seeking.

where are you located?

Motors are around. Some in better shape than others.

I has the same problem. Got one of ebay from Canada, not great experience, but the engine seems fine. I considered the M110 swap.

I have m110 but not a good 2.5 m130. I've got a couple m180 but they are 2.2/2.3. a lot less power and balanced with the flex plate/flywheel so changing from manual to auto(if your car is requires a rebalance of your auto flex plate.

Maybe irrelevant but the US 1972 w114 250c is a 2.8 m130. I think all m130 are 2.8 liter engines.

I would assume that the injected m130 could work for a carbed m130 (but not vice versa). I don’t know how you’d block off the injection pump part. Also, I think the injected sedan motors are still valuable in the pagoda world even though the SL supposedly have a slightly “hotter” camshaft.

I think you should be able to find a good m130 from a 250 or 250c w114 if you wait long enough. One will certainly turn up. Often you can buy these cars for $1000 or less if not in great shape, and get a lot of spare parts from them too.

Where are you to start with? Any member having a good used engine would assume as i am. Probably a long way away.

Jason and I have shipped a few engines on a pallet via freight shipping for surprisingly cheap.

Yeah I think it was 196.00 to ship the m110, 4 speed and all that r107 brake stuff from Delaware to caribou in New Mexico for the w114 coupe build.
