Mike, your radiator cap will vent when the pressure is right. That's what they did in 72. The little nib off the radiator by the cap should have a hose that leads to a small overflow tank. Any coolant into it stays there.

Might just need a new radiator cap.

Could you be more specific about where the leak is?

I replaced the radiator cap. Water pump has maybe 500 miles on it but is 5-6 years old. On the left side of the radiator.

It only leaks after parked for hours. Not when running. Would a radiator do that?

Were probably going to need to know exactly where it is leaking from. Can you post a picture of the leak?

Clean the area really well and let it leak again then take picture. You can usually figure out here it is leaking from this way.

Temps and pressure go up when you turn the car off.

DIY pressure test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CfIo9niyXQ
Note,only use @8psi!

You can probably rent for free a pressure tester from local auto parts store.

Yup. When heated the metal in the radiator expands and seals the leak. When it cools it shrinks and allows a tiny leak.

Any good radiator shop can rebuild your radiator They will also pressure test your unit after they have finished to make sure there are no leaks.
