welcome. Forums have issues with charlatans and scammers posting bogus for sale ads. So guys with very low post counts are blocked from posting in the for sale area.

These vintage 280S cars usually have three kinds of problems, underside rust, trashed interiors and are not running due to the carb being shot.

Is your car afflicted with all 3?

280S in BHM

yes that is about right

* underside rust: not sure this is that bad, definitely the trunk and 1 back door area...am not under it to see more but in terms of a driver/passenger there is not more noticeable

* trashed interiors: definitely, the blue leather which was so nice is just evaporating away and the dash has a crack

* carb: this was why I stopped driving it - it began to stall when idling at a stop...at one point I had a foot on the gas and a foot on the break to keep goosing it... had a reliable local mechanic that said that the carb on these leaked and so having a kid to send to college my budget was really there and so it has sat for a long time....is really too bad as it had plenty of power...we have some big hills here and out on the highway it was nice and strong....

I would think it is useful for parts at least though would love it to be a cherry drive just don't have the mad money for that...

I have a 1976 280S that was recently given to me as the Owner did not want to spend the money to have it repaired. It had been sitting for almost two years. I drained the tank, installed a new strainer, re-installed the cam cover, connected the spark plug wires, installed a good battery and the engine started with very little trouble. It does however have a tick, tick, tick which is due to a badly worn exhaust cam - number 6 lobe.

I possibly would be interested in your car for parts. Are you looking for someone to just take it away?? If money is to exchange hands, how much were you hoping to get?

Thanks!!

Tom
