Thank you for the engineering Mr. Sacco and crew.
I haven't posted on here in quite awhile even though my life completely revolves around Mercedes-Benz vehicles. I didn't get alot of pics while thrashing the car together and didn't post alot of it anywhere.
I built a race car out of a w123 300D turbo for an Enduro race, which is 100 lap race with usually far more cars then there are supposed to be on a small ish track , 1/3 of a mile banked oval. (Evergreen raceway in drums PA check it out if you are nearby at all. great place and people there). 4 or 6cyl only(no V8 really), 110" wheelbase limit. No engine or suspensionods allowed, only removal of Everything besides running gear and adding safety item. I almost completed that race on Saturday and not finishing had nothing to do with the car breaking. I was really skeptical about if I was going to have enough power to be a contender with the om617 and that turned out not to be an issue at all. I was right there with the fastest cars. I have never raced here but I am extremely familiar with the track and have been drifting here for 3 years. So I definitely know how to slide around this track at the limit. Unfortunately I got a flat after I bounced it off the Wall on the second or third lap since there was ice all down the front straightaway. I had a tire changed but was like 10-12 laps down. I went back out on a crispy no name spare tire that was horrible and was on a mission to see how far I could get back up in 80 ish laps. I was only passed by one car slipping on the Ice the rest of the race. Unfortunately if there is a broken car they red flag the race and remove the driver and leave the car. With laps dwindling I was still mowing through the field not even knowing who was where in the standings. I passed a car on the outside and she was not really doing well and slipping up almost every time I passed her(many many times) I went as wide as I thought I could to avoid being spun out and hit a stopped(abandoned)cavalier sitting facing traffic dead on the passenger side at probably 40-50 mph. I was in a race seat with 4 point harnesses. I walked away and have nothing but a belt rash on my shoulder and a sore lower back that probably would have been bothering me after the last week-long thrash to get the car ready anyway. The car still ran but the right front tire was pushed back into the footwell completely and the radiator was destroyed. The car was not caged at all and the windshield didn't even crack. The right side framerail took all of the hit and even sheared off of the floor somewhat to absorb more energy. "Engineered like no other car" Thank you Ps. If this is a duplicate it's because,well... It's a duplicate. One reason I'm not on here or benzworld much anymore is because it so glitchy and endlessly frustrating/time wasting. The original post of this is nowhere to be found. Can't get pic uploads to work and Tapatalk is a total piece of garbage too. Rrrrrrr

So after seeing the video what I thought happened was not entirely accurate. The black car was not terribly slow but I had lapped him 3/4 times. The red car coming up on the inside was third place and the first car to challenge me since I got spun shortly after returning to the track with a new tire. I must have hesitated to pass the black car to do so on corner exit so I entered the turn higher to come out low, and when the red car got under me I decided to go outside of the black car. I pushed up a little bit and you can see my front tires straighten to reestablish grip, then I get the car to rotate just a bit too late and BLAM!!! Curtains. That cavalier flew like a toy car. Damn.

I can't believe that they actually just LEAVE the cars on the track after they're disabled. Clearly a liability and danger!
That track is about 30m from me and I did a Rusty Wallace racing experience on it in 2014. I was the fastest one out there and lapped one of the guys at least 3 times in the 15 laps I had. Glad you're ok, sorry the car isn't. Assuming it'll be a donor for another racecar?

I built a new 300d shell with all the parts from the wrecked one. It was a part out I bought for 250$ and it was a rusty pile of garbage. First race it was Illl handling due to wasted lower control arm bushings and I got 4th after being punted into the wall with 20 to go and my sights on 3rd. Took out the fan and rad, bent the frame knocked the toe out bad. Just made it to the finish. It started really getting hot with 5 to go. Nuked it real good and blew the head gasket. So after that race I replaced the head gasket and all was(seemed) good so I went about straightening the frame and repairing the rub rails. Test drive it the day before the race and the headgasket went away again. Retorqued the head an extra 45° and it helped but still had some exhaust coming out of the cooling system. The car was still running perfectly fine and making power so I reengineered the cooling system with a second pressure tank up higher and on the left in the rear package shelf with a heater pump pushing any water back to the front and all the exhaust leaving the rad cap back there. It worked like a charm and only needed an occasional off throttle to burp the exhaust out of the head cooling jacket. I put in consistent laps and hammered whoever I needed to to pull off a second place running the 2nd 50 laps on a flat left front. I call it a victory! Here's the highlight reel.
