Correct Tranny fluid?

I was doing some searching and found a post where the recommended ATF for a 1974 280C was Dextron 3.

Would my 1971 250C use the same ATF?

I've read I should also drain the torque converter?

Anything special I should know about this job?

Parts should arrive this week.

Thank you
Gary

Yes on fluid.

Make sure you have a new crush ring for torque converter drain plug. When you fill fill 4 qts then crank up and add whatever else is needed. Start out by measuring what you got out and putting same amount back in.

You might not find a bottle labelled Dextron. The company removed that name from market. Probably find dex/merc or just ATF3.

The parts kit from Mercedes Classic came today.
It included the pan seal, the filter, (2) 14mm(?) Crush rings and one 10mm(?) crush ring.

Do the pans originally come with a magnet?
If not, what would be the opinion of adding one?
Thanks.. Gary

If no magnet, adding one would be good.
