Hot Hot Hot.

Hello,

I have a 1972 280se 4.5 MB.

How hot should the gage max show? What is the ideal Highway Temperatur? At what temerature should I get worried?

Also when should the aux fan kick in? at the temp over 175? or only when the A/C is on?

cK

Most cars it's around 210 or so for max efficiency. My 4.5 got up about that high when I drove it up and down the road after just fixing it, but it needs a new radiator and I didnt have the cap on it (otherwise it would have lost all the water). So long as it isnt too close to the white or red zones I'd say it's ok. As for the fan, I'd imagine it turns on at low RPMs when the temp is about 200-220 probably
