280 series bumpers
I own a 1974 MBz 280 sedan with small bumpers. I am about to buy a 1973 MBz 280C with the large bumpers. First of all, does this seem right? Second, how hard would it be to switch the bumpers from car to car? Thanks a lot.

To my knowledge, the '73 should have the small bumpers, and the '74 has the larger energy absorbing ones with the black rubber covering.

The rear bumper on a 280C has a really long wrap arounds on the sides to reach the wheel wells. It's supposed to look like that.
Those wrap around sections are supposed to be chrome, not black rubber. The front bumper that doesn't meet US impact standards should be thinner than one that does. The bumpers are all interchangable if you need to swap it around. -CTH |
