differential pinion oil seal
The drive pinion oil seal in my 1959 220s ponton's differential leaks and needs replacing. The special fixing nut at that time was the six-pin type, not the four-pin type that came into use later (during the 1960s?). The six-pin tool (Pin Wrench 120-589-01-07) is NLA and Mercedes/Germany has no drawings/specifications for it. No dealer I have contacted has it either, even in the service area. I have struck out with all other information sources too. Note that this Wrench is similar to, yet different from, the Wrench for the Adenauers. The Wrench I need was used for all the pontons, and the 190SLs, of that period.
Does anyone have any information about this Pin Wrench? The number may be embedded into it. I could use the following: outside diameter, inside diameter, depth of pins, width of pins, overall length including pins. With this I can get one made up. Does anyone know who manufactured this Wrench originally for Mercedes? Might anyone know where I may rent or borrow this tool? Long shot question, but just maybe someone has some info.
