Exhaust from Adsit or TimeValve?

I was cruising the web looking for exhaust parts for the 280 SE. No one lists mufflers, etc for the 4.5 except Adsit (Adsitco.com) and TimeValve (timevalve.com).

Has anyone purchased one of these systems, and what do you think of them? Timevalve is substatially less expensive, but uses the same rear muffler for both the 6 and 8 cylinder cars, might be a problem?

Anyway, thanks for the input!

Peter

I've heard lots of complaints about Adsit. Timevalve or Borla would be the way I'd go.

Avoid Borla at all costs! I installed their system on my 250SL some years ago. It had so many resonant periods (droning, buzzing, etc) that I called them. I drove the car 400 miles to their shop. They installed a modified system. It was just as bad. On the drive home I just about went batty. I pulled it off and got a credit. I've never heard a complaint about Timevalve. Incidently, when I pulled off the Borla, I installed a new factory system I bought from the dealer. That was 1986. Since them, as soon as I shut the engine off, I plug the exhaust tips with some rolled up shop rags. The system I installed in 1986 is still sound! The rags prevent moisture from entering the system as it cools. The moisture forms sulfuric acid and the systems rot from the inside out. Before that I was lucky to get three years out of a factory system.

I think cth or ctaylor reccomended timevalve to me.. My car has a center muffler also known as a resonator and I don't think that adsit has those at all.. whereas timevalve does. I would rather go with stainless especially since they have a better price and can offer complete systems from tailipipe to header pipes.

Both the completeness of the Timevalve system and the fact that it is stainless steel make it attractive. Nothing worse than trying to get a miss-matched exhaust together. I'm not all that excited about exhaust systems anyway.

Thanks for the input -- I'll probably buy the system from Timevalve in the next few weeks.
