Post your question on the 190 SL Group site: www.190slgroup.com "installed rebuilt long block from atk engines. the #1 cylinder is at tdc on the compression stroke butt the button is not pointing directly at the mark on distributor?" If the timing chain is off one camshaft tooth you will be off 16 degrees. If you have no suction to pull the gas in something is off with the valve adjustment. Intakes at .003" exhaust at .008". Note that it is normal at idle and low speed for gasoline to pool in the barrels of the Solex carbs to the extent that it will run out and drip on the exhaust manifold. At highway speed this is corrected. The Solexes come with drain tubes that draw off this excess fuel, route it through the exhaust manifold and let it drip under the car. You need a 190SL distributor that uses a mechanical not a vacuum advance. Advance is set with the engine running. Hold the rpms at 3000 and set the advance at 38 degrees BTDC. |

There is a national 190SL convention in Williamsburg, VA this year. October 15 - 19. I'd expect 125 or so people. You should come! Robby |
