I think y'all are reading that wrong. I don't think Chuck was squaking about the price, but rather crowing about the fact one can still get obscure parts from the dealer, for a production model that hasn't been produced for nearly 30 years.
Regarding the price, hell I'd have no problem paying $29 for two little rubber rings and a shaft seal especially when you consider that a rebuilt Vickers pump cost upwards of $650.00 US.

Actually, it was the price.
You can buy the seal for $3 from Partsshop or others, but I was too cheap to pay the $6 to ship it. Usually, MB is at most 50% more for stuff like this, so I called the dealer and they ordered it. I thought at worst I would pay $6-7 and didn't even ask about the price. I guess it is impressive that you can still get parts in 4 hours for a 30-year old car and I'm sure those are the finest damn o-rings and seal ever made.

I'm not surprised. I sat down with Mercedes Vintage and got every part number needed to completely rebuild the engine on my 59 190Db. Now all I need to do is get the time to order the stuff and get the engine rebuilt.

It also shows that MB uses a lot of the same parts from model to model. Look at the door lock knob. They are still using the same ones as in the W110 and W111.
