1957 300SL Question

I need to help an ill family friend sell his pride and joy. It is a black 1957 300SL roadster convertible . I don't even know where to start. I will take a good hard look at it in the morning. It has always been in a controlled garage. What should I look at to evaluate the car's condition and worth for a possible sale. How should I go about selling it or should we find a broker for something this valuable ? Is now a good time to be selling a roadster ?

Thanks for any advice or thoughts on this very sad process.

Jason Bradley

Take a look at John Olson's site at slmarket.com. He's definitely knowledgeable and does specialize in MB.

These cars usually sell for large amounts of money, when in factory condition. Get the car appraised and checked out. Do a market analysis on it and proceed from there. There may need to be mechanical repairs made or some cosmetic repairs done.

Good luck and report back.

I'm in the US. The sl market site is still down and it is raining so we can't open the garage doors.

Jason

If you are interested in a very good broker contact Alex Dearborn at alex@dearborn.com. He is located just north of Boston, and travels the entire country.

Cheers,

I remember posting this a long time ago. Take a look at what they where selling these SL's in SF Bay Area. These where completely clean cars in true show room condition. If the link does not work, copy and paste it in your address line

Ditto on Robby's suggestion about calling Alex Dearborn. He's your best bet.
