Trying again....why does my 250 have 280 parts?

Since my thread somehow got deleted, I am gonna repost this since I posted a pic of a 1969 280SE with the same interior as mine. Any ideas as to why my 67' has this ThermoKing and the reflectors? I can understand the reflectors, those seem easy. But the air conditioner thing seems like a lot of work. Thanks for the info.

The 111 body Fintail cars used a hang-on Thermo-King Kuhlmeister AC unit under the dash. My Dad had a '66 Euro 250SE and the lower dash was straight across, like the Fintail cars, without the bulging AC housing in the lower padding shown in your photo.
At some point this bulge was added to the lower dash on the 108 body cars, to give a more integrated look to the installation of the optional Thermo-King AC. By the late '60s, AC was a common option or standard equipment in the US, for cars in the Mercedes 250SE price range. Those cars sold without AC had a finished wood filler panel under the dash, in place of the AC unit. It's possible that your later style dash was introduced to the US by '67 or your lower dash pad was swapped from one of the later cars.

I don't know what happened, but when I deleted a reply I put in here that somehow appeared on top of yours, it took the whole thread with it

Thats fine. I think because of the huge time difference between us, it appeared that you posted first. And if you posted first and you delete your post, it deletes the whole thread.

As for my car, there are quite a few things that it has that I'm not sure about. I at first thought that my car was a 68'. Then I realized that on the dipstick, it says "67/250/108" I'm pretty sure that that stands for the year, the model and the chassis. Does anybody else's car have that? I really need to hang out with some 108 people and go check out their cars and compare!

250SE,
The 250SE was built until January 1968 and 250S until March 1969. I wouldn't only rely on what it says on the dipstick. Check the numbers on the engine ID plate and the chassis/VIN number. you may also find other information cast into the sparkplug side of the cylinder head. (My 250C engine says 280S there) That dipstick could have been easily swapped.
