Engine rotation direction
Ok guys. Really basic question. Does my 4.5 engine turn clockwise or counterclockwise?

If you are standing at the front bumper viewing the engine, rotation is clockwise.

Something I cant resist mentioning....
Old diesels, primitive round-body 180s and 190s had problem of occasionallly and rarely running backwards from start up. Am not joking - they would rumble, cough and spit as the engine spun in the wrong direction. The problem had something to do with position of pistons in their cycle at start-up. |

Always interesting to learn strange things about cars.
Well, I changed the tensioner rail, tensioner and timing chain. Also went ahead and replaced the water pump, replaced a gasket in the oil cooler dashpot and engine shocks. I must have jumped a couple of teeth changing the chain because valve timing was off. Now cam marks are dead on with crank at tdc. Was about 13 degrees before changing. Have to finish putting it back together tomorrow and will see what happens.
