Plaque for high-milers...
...couldn't find the thread with the brochure about the pin and stuff you get for high miles on your Mercedes.
I found this today: Kind regards Eberhard Last edited by whunter; 07-30-2008 at 06:11 PM. Reason: attached picture for future members |

Didn't earn it myself.
Came with Simones car. First owner was a construction business, they must have clocked it with a truck. Kind regards Eberhard |

To be honest, I have no idea, how MBNA handles that matter.
We got the badge with the car, the badge came from an old truck. Kind regards Eberhard |

With All the Speedo problems (zinc gear) that older benzes have, can any mileage can be authenticated?

Wonder if MBNA will do this for non-US owners?
Info on how to apply for the badges is on the MBNA website and often mentioned in The Star...however, car must be presented at a dealer service department who will check VIN #, odo reading (or service record), authenticate milage, and a couple of weeks later you get the grille badge and two VERY nice certificates.
Doubt many present and recent Benzes will be racking up these Km's. The original poster lives in Stuttgart(!). Maybe someone out there has some idea? |

I didn't clock the km myself, but when I was a student I worked in the cab-business. The average cars (W 124 200D, 250D and 300D) had between 250 and 600 thousand km. My favoured car was a 1976 W 123 300D which had about 800.000 km. In town there were to others with 1.1 and 1.2 mio. km.
One business here in Esslingen has a 190D with 750 km. The W 124 Diesels easily got 500 - 600 kkm on the first engine. The trannys usually lasted 350 kkm. Biggest problem coming with age are the rubber bushings of the rear axle. Kind regards Eberhard |

My 250,000 km award was not based on any service / dealer records that I provided. You fill out an application yourself. There is a place for dealer info, but I don't use a dealer, nor did a dealer do it for me -- I left that blank with no problem. (I understand from my cars previous owner the local dealer is lothe to work on diesels old enough to earn badges anyway.) I can't imagine many folks lying about the car having MORE than the actual miles.
There are also personal awards (certificates and lapel pins) for owners that have accumulated award levels of mileage in one or a number of MBZs. Same application covers both auto and personal awards. Don't now how that is documented since I don't personally qualify. The badges and certificates are free, and come with matching gold colored screws. You provide the screwdriver. My 250000 Km (155,000 mi) came in about two weeks. I am working on the 1,000,000 Km (625,000mi) badge now so guess I should send in now for 500,000 Km 312,500 mi). My independent has copies of the application. For the less fortunate, high mileage application is available by writing to MB Marketing Communications: Mercedes Benz of North America, Inc. One Mercedes drive Montvale, New Jersey 07645 Attn: High Mileage Awards Program I got the application by phone -- don't remember the number.
