700 bucks for control arm bushings?
A colleague has an 85 123 300D Turbo. He has been quoted $700.00 to replace the control arm bushings by a local Mercedes dealer. I have told him to consider other options...
The dealers service department is claiming $100.00 for the bushings and $600.00 for labor. I asked him if he's sure they were talking just about the rubber bushings and not the control arms themselves and he assures me they mean the bushings. Am I unreasonable or does that seem crazy? - Peter.

Well if you look at the prices for bushing on this website or others like parts.mbz.org the bushing kits are $21 each and you need two .. not surprising that they mark it up.
Despite how cheap those parts are I can imagine it being an all day affair to remove the control arms and put them back and if the shop charges $80 per hour it adds up to $600 pretty fast. If he wants to save a buck or hundred or so then maybe he should buy the parts online and find a place that has lower charges per hour for labor.
