Clutch slipping in warm weather

I have a 230.6 W114 1976 with a clutch that slips during warm/hot weather (above 15degrees C). When the weather is cooler (less than 5 degrees C) it doesn't slip. Other symptoms are a slight judder when setting off in first gear (happens whatever the weather). As summer is just around the corner it's time to fix it.

Had the clutch rebuilt last year (clutch disc rebuilt, pressure plate rebuilt, new bearings, flywheel machined), so I'm hoping that there is a simple adjustment required.

Any ideas?

I am having the same sort of problem with an XKE that I am working on for a friend's widow.

I would first drain all the hydraulic fluid and replace the flex hose. If you don't have a pressure bleeder and use the pedal to bleed, be sure to NOT depress the pedal past its normal travel.

Then use the eccentric adjusting bolt at the top of the pedal to get approximately 1 mm clearance before resistance when pushing on the pedal with your hand.

Once this is done, you should be sure that the clutch is releasing fully - that the hydraulics/pedal are not preventing release. If this has been the case prior to this, the disc is glazed and you will have to drive the car for a while to wear the glaze off.

It appears that this flex hose supplies fluid from the reservoir to the master cylinder - if this hose is "upstream" how would it affect the operation of the clutch?

I have adjusted the pedal with the eccentric bolt and now just have to wait for some warm weather to see if it has worked. Will let you know.

The 114's do have a flex hose between the two metal tubes that connect to the master and slave cylinders, respectively. It's in my 250C and shown in the parts book in Group 29.

Sorry for the late follow up - turned out it was the master cylinder sticking. Thanks again.
