Remove dash grille and speaker -- the nuts that hold the vent in are on the back at the corners. I don't remember if there are two or four anymore. You may need to remove the plastic tips on the heater levers. Be carefull, they tend to break.....

You will need to get a long phillips head screwdriver and remove the screw that holds the lever to the vent control flap.

Once everything is undone, the grille comes off toward the interior, and the switch will be accessable. It's held on with a ring on the front, you have to pull the knob off to remove the switch.

If you're certain that your dash blower switch is faulty and your W114 230 is like my '72 W114 250, you will need to remove the radio speaker and grill for access to disconnect the rubber air duct from the rear lip of the dash vent. The duct should be attached with 4 plastic push-pins if no one's been in there before and lost them.
Then, looking through the dash vent, in the upper corners of the vent, just behind the louvers, are 2 philips screws. Remove these and, with a long philips, unscrew the captive nut in the center of the vent until it disconnects from the rod that connects the vent lever to the fresh air flap.
Then PULL off the fan knob with shaft. Unscrew the chrome ring-nut under the fan knob. Pull off the 4 slide knobs. The black center vent-slide panel should now come off to reveal the control assy and the screws securing it to the dash. Remove these screws and you should be able to pull the control assy out far enough to reach the blower switch. Good Luck.

Happy Motoring, Mark
