Europa II to Becker 753 or 612 in '78 280 E

My 25 yr. old Becker Europa doesn't go off when switched off and has ignition noise coming through the speakers all the time. I've checked the connections and they are good. I plan to pull the Europa and have Becker NA. fix it up.

In the mean time, I have a nice Becker 753(Euro model) and a 612 off of ebay, one of which I would like to put in when the Europa is off campus at the spa.

Will the newer units fit the brackets for the Europa? I know how to take the face(head) off, but the newer units have sprung clips that lock into the top of the frame. I have a cable adapter from Becker and will pull constant power from the glove box light cable.

Should I try this venture? What other hurdles should I expect?
