Brake line replacement?
I found out what brake line of mine was busted on the left rear but neither FastLane nor mbz.org has it. It's the line that runs from the rubber one to the caliper (it's steel, 2 male ends). Does anyone know the part # or where I could get it from? Thanks.

Measure the length and get one that's close at any shop that does MB or VW work. Probably Porsche and BMW shops would work too.

You may have to have one made up for you -- you can use the nuts by cutting the line and taking them off (AFTER you get the new one bent to shape!). The flares are put on with a standard flaring tool, available at any good auto parts store.

Peter: No can do on the waiting part... the line was on so tight and it cracked when I was taking it off with the wrench (it caused the line to spin with the nuts and it cracked!). But thanks for the advice. I'll have to go see my MB specialist tomorrow I suppose

I had new stainless steel brake lines (front) made up for the 76 300D by Classic Tube (www.classictube.com). Took about two weeks from the time that I sent them the old lines until I received the new ones. They fit perfectly. Good service and good price.
Just a thought if you have the time.

I would just order that from your friendly local MB dealership. Those metal lines are cheap.

Well, at the local shop, I got a 30" line for $2.47 with tax that had the proper size (and thread) metric nuts and flares already on! It was easy to bend. It's a little long but I can just add a few bends after I attach it (I had to buy fluid so I can bleed the line!)
