Fuel Gauge erratic

The fuel gauge on my 108 is doing some strange things. The reading bears no relationship to the amount of fuel in my car and whenever I opperate anything electric like the indicators the gauge jumps in unison to the flasher. Im guessing theres a bad connection but before I pull everything out has anyone got any suggestions on what might be causing it.

Classic bad ground or bad connection problem -- my old 220D always does this (along with the turn signal indicators coming on with the high beams) when I start driving it after one of it's vacations. The 280 SE did too, I've gotten used to it.

Problem usually goes away with some use of the vehicle.

You should also check the ground wire in the trunk for the gas gauge -- if it isn't connected properly (due to corrosion) the gauge won't work right.

Could also have a dead sending unit, they are about $95.
