Please help with turn signals

The turn signals on my 1978 240 D are acting funny. When I activate the signal, it flashes/clicks a few times (sometimes more than others) and then stops, even though the turn signal arm is still in the up or down position. It seems like the problem has been getting worse over the last week. I changed the fuse 6 weeks ago, and all of the functions associated with that fuse seem to be working, so I'm not sure that it is the fuse that's the problem. I always get good advice here. Please let me know what you think I should do. Thanks!

I had the same problem awhile back with my 63 220. I change the turn signal module with one I found in a wrecking yard for a dollar and, other than a slow blinking sequence, it is back to near normal. The problem with the Mercedes module is it is exclusive to the model with pin connections that do not match available standard replacements in Pep Boys, Checker, etc. . Cost from the dealer was quoted as $56! The module is located on the drivers side of the engine firewall. See the shiny aluminum thing in the attachment just above the windshield washer bottle.

Red face turn signal

Find your flasher(should be under dash left of steering wheel. activate your turn signal.press the flasher between the bottom of the connector(the part the flasher plugs into)and the top of the flasher.if you notice the flasher working properly or it flashes and studders(eratic flashing)follow gregs advice .if this does not help, your problem is most likely elsewhere.let me know.thanks
