Replacing solex with injection M110

Hello all;

I would just like to say thank you for this forum! I believe it was 'psfred' that said an injected M110 would fit in an old W114. What about keeping the motor and modifiing an existing M110 engine.

Mark

I think that it will work. I am planning to try it on my 280C and am looking for a suitable donor car.

There are three big issues and some little ones.

Big:

- Need to get the entire fuel system from an injected M110 car (280E, 280SE, etc) from the pump forward to the injectors and adapt it to the 114's fuel system

- Need to get the engine management system including the computer, fuel pump relay. sensors, and wiring harness, and install it in the 114.

- The heads on the carb engine have plugs where the injectors go. These need to be drilled or pulled out.

Little:

- Throttle linkage
- Air cleaner
- Misc which you would never think of

You will need the fuel system (no computer til 1980) and the intake manifold. The hole for the warm-up regulator is there in the head, you will have to remove the plug.

Make sure you get all of it -- warmup regulator, thermo time valve for the cold start valve, idle warmup valve, and intake with fuel distributor.

You will also need the high pressure lines for the fuel -- 75 psi vs 5 psi.

You will get great improvements in driveability, about 10% more power, and about 10% better milage.
