1976 350 SE questions

I am looking at a 1976 350SE Euro. I have a few quesitons about it. I have an 1980 280SE Euro, so this is what I have to compare it to. I am aware of the parts avaliblity issues and what not. What concernes me is:

1.) The transmission, it seems to shift at fairly high RPMs. My 280 is a manual so it may be normal I am not sure.
2.) Cooling it is running at a bit over 80C. That is much higher than my 280, no visible leaks are there any common issues?
3.) Ride is much rougher than my 1980, is that normal? Or am I looking at some repairs?

Body is real good, interior is almost perfect. It will be very cheap.

80 C is normal temp -- I'd bet you either have a bad or low temp thermostat in the 280.

Rough ride is usually worn out shocks -- the Bilsteins get hard when they are low on oil because they offer NO resistance until the piston hits the oil level and you get one heck of a thump.

Shift point is adjustable -- should upshift into third at about 30 mph under light throttle. If you floor it, it will stay in second until about 85 mph.

Thanks for the info, psfred.

It is a 116 chassis.

Good to know about the shift. She just had it sitting at one of the local dealers, and it was there for 2 months! At least they gave her a loaner for most of the time. I am not sure what they did to it. It was brought into the US after 97 and is incredibly well maintained. I do not think she has been keeping up on it quite as well, but she is trying. (spending a lot of money at the dealer!)
