M110 renewal

Dear Veterans:

Another 110 renewal question:

I'm just about to dive into a "rebuilt 110 short block+ good parts from my old engine" type project. Should I be concerned with just switching the oil return(?) hose/pipe that runs diagonally across the side of the motor? Should I replace it? What other leak concerns should I address? I figure now would be the time.

Thanks
Will

You will probably need to unfasten it from one end or the other to get the head and pan off your orginal engine. I removed it, cleaned it, and put it back on - no big deal, no leaks.

Other stuff -

Don't mess up the dipstick tube or it will leak, and make sure you replace the short hose between the water pump and the thermostat housing, and put a new o-ring on the chain tensioner. Replace the motor mounts with the engine out. Throw a front main seal in the trans for good measure.
