M110 renewal
Dear Veterans:
Another 110 renewal question: I'm just about to dive into a "rebuilt 110 short block+ good parts from my old engine" type project. Should I be concerned with just switching the oil return(?) hose/pipe that runs diagonally across the side of the motor? Should I replace it? What other leak concerns should I address? I figure now would be the time. Thanks Will |

You will probably need to unfasten it from one end or the other to get the head and pan off your orginal engine. I removed it, cleaned it, and put it back on - no big deal, no leaks.
Other stuff - Don't mess up the dipstick tube or it will leak, and make sure you replace the short hose between the water pump and the thermostat housing, and put a new o-ring on the chain tensioner. Replace the motor mounts with the engine out. Throw a front main seal in the trans for good measure.
