Question plug and point gaps '75 280S 116

Hi there,

Wondering if someone can pass on the measurements for the above.

I also need a service manual for this model - if anyone knows a distributor (who can get one to me in Australia - would really appreciate it)

Points are .3 mm/.012 inches - I do 34 degrees dwell.

Plugs are .8mm .031 inches.

I am sure Mercedes has a CD for this car. I don't know a source since they were not sold in the US.

You can buy the Haynes manuals for the 280/123 f(or the engine), and there is a lot of similarity between the bodies and chassis.

Good luck with the Solex.

Thanks a lot - I see a lot of these cars about, but there's never much info available on them at parts suppliers.

In fact, I have had trouble getting (MB) mechanics to work on it.

I wanted to get it tuned a few weeks ago when I bought it, and so took it to an MB mechanic I used on my last car, he basically told me he wasn't interested and that I should go someplace else...

It looks like I'll be undertaking most of the routine servicing myself.

The car is in pretty good condition - only 175k (kilometres), not a spot of rust - good service history. I bought it for $1500 AUD (that's about 1000US) - I was sure there was something wrong with it, but have been pleasantly surprised.

thanks again for your help.

Wonderful Car

Stiffy. You have a beautifull car there. I had a 79 280S which I bought with 303000 km on it and finally sold it with 384000 km. I envy you. Your only real problem is going to be the carb. Good luck with it...

- Peter.
