1973 280 se 4.5 steering box leaking
i have leaking fluid from the gearbox adjustment screw how can i fix this problem. 73 280 se 4.5 (108)

Well, that all depends on how bad it is leaking. If it is just a few drops here and there, you can probably let it ride for a while, if you're having to add fluid every day then it is time for a rebuild. Mine was leaking from the pitman shaft, started out as a slow drip, let it ride for almost two years which, by that time had gotten bad enough to need fluid a couple times a week. The steering box was one of the few jobs I have farmed out. The parts were about $35-$40 with something like 4.5 hours labor. It's a great time to renew the steering coupler bushings and the coupler too if worn.
So how bad is it leaking?

thank you mike on the reply. It does leak alot of fluid. I also having problem replacing the tie rods inner and outer, is there a trick to knocking the things out of their socket.
