Source is car show character - I've just heard about the tires aint seen em myself. But he probly knows what they're worth based on the convsersation, says they've never been mounted.
Do tire pressures expand, say driving through St.Louie cross country at August in Sunbeam Tiger V-8, I wonder. The guy had to be smokin the treads at high speed to roll the car, betcha there's alot more to the story that he aint tellin - like maybe a pothole in the road or he swerved to crush a turtle's shell. Fishing for a lawsuit - Firestones? If it was me searching 13" tires for Haeckflosse Benz I'd bag these Pirrellis without hesitation. |

As it is, the 185/80R-13 tires I'm running now, are probably just adequate for my 2900 pound Fintail. Any 175 X 13 is really too small for that car, but a 175/75 or 175/80 series might work on a 4 cylnder Ponton. If my '60 Fintail had power steering, I'd probably install the 14 inch rims and upgrade to a 195/70R14, still availible in a Michelin at Sam's Club.
As to age-related tire hazards, many years ago I had an 8 year old Pirelli come apart on my 4 cylinder '67 Sunbeam Alpine. I was cruising at about 50 mph, on a cool overcast spring morning, with the temperature at around 60 degrees. At that time, I wasn't smokin' rubber or attempting to nail any small roadside critters. So I do think I was pushing my luck with Miss Daisy's 13 year old Pirellis. Happy Motoring, Mark
