Question Condenser R/R questoin

First off sorry for the multiple posts, I have a Mercedes service manual [ya the thick bible] but I swear I can't find a single thing in there I need.

When I went to remove the condenser I noticed that the actuall metal canister was cut off of the geen wire. Is that corect? my replacment is Bosch and I would asume its supost to be there. If it is where do I mount it?

Aditional questoins:
Point gap?
Spark plug gap?
Where in the heck is the fuel filter?

PS. The ONLY oem style plug wires I could find in town were the bosch ones. Due to the negative feedback I got from my previous post should I return them? They seemed to fix perfectly!

Thanks ever so much

Condenser, according to most popular opinion and trial-and-error by previous members, is nothing more than a hassle and often performance-hindering unit. Most people cut the wire or take it out competely.

I never understood the concept of "Point gap" myself until I realized that there's no definitive answer to this. Concensus says that it's somewhere around 0.030" (to get it started - if it runs now, don't touch it!) but you actually need a dwell meter to properly set and check it. It should be 30 degrees. If you don't have a dwell meter and a timing light - don't touch the points until you get them! Resetting the points means you will have to reset the timing as well.

The fuel filter is mounted with the pump directly in front of the gas tank in a "cubby hole" type box. A total PITA to get out and replace if your mounting rubbers have any rust on the threads - I suggest buying new ones before attempting this because it is a major pain.

Plug gap is listed in the owner's manual and I don't know off the top of my head. I am heading out to my car anyway so I'll check while I'm there if I remember.
