1964 200D won't go into reverse?
The owner, a member here, has what he believes to be a 1964. I think that is when they switched to 200's. Anyways, assuming it is a 200D why would only forward gears work perfectly and no reverse? I believe I am stating this correctly, his username is jim1667 something. I am trying to find out more about the car so I can maybe decide if it is a project worth my while.
Thanks David

The Fintail 200/200D was introduced at the 1965 Frankfurt auto show.
Most likely, the shift linkage has some worn/missing bushings and/or needs adjustment. Another possibility - later manual column-shifts ('69 280S ) had a reverse lock-out that required an additional action - the shift lever needed to be pulled out of or pushed into it's socket slightly, against a spring, before shifting into reverse. Don't know if that applies to the 200D. Happy Motoring, Mark
