Lightbulb Random Questions

Hello, my dad's 1979 300SD is acting strange.
1. The key would turn to the start position with no results from the starter, as in no cranking, no clicking, nothing. As if the battery is dead
2. He's gone through about 8 or 9 starters in the past month (not necessarily wrecking them, just gone back as defective for reasons above).
3. Tried several used ignition switches with more problems. It now starts when the key is in position 2 and keeps the starter cranking even after the car starts (not moving the key back to the "on" position)

If anyone has had a similar incident, how did you fix it? Any information would be gladly accepted and helpful.

Thanks for reading.

PS: this has nothing to do with the issues above, I'm just wondering if you can wire in a Becker from a W123 in a W116. We've done it only to have it blow the fuse. We want to try again but don't want to damage the radio.
