Extra Gear Noise in 5th
OK, this is not about my vintage MB, it is about my winter-driver now activated with the first snow of the season. I'll move this to the General Discussion Forum if nothing comes up here, but I feel this is my "home" forum and will start with you all.
My 94 4WD 5-speed Trooper(126K miles) sat most of the summer. It has just been serviced, including new fluids in the front and rear differentials and the transmission case. Before taking the summer off, I started to hear more "gear noise" from the drivetrain, only in 5th gear. Gears 1 through 4 sound normal. 5th now is noticably louder. It's not locked in 4WD, and all other indicators are normal. So I am keeping 4th as my final ratio until I figure out what the issue is. Any thoughts?
