What is your gas mileage on your MB?

I am getting about 16.84 miles/gallon on my 1972 280SEL 4.5L. This was with Lucas fuel treatment, but also with a VERY VERY dirty air filter. What do you get with your Mercedes-Benz vehicle?
Tim

I know I'm not vintage (I browse all the forums) but my SE gets about 20, and the 400 gets 22-23. You really get almost 17? Thats not bad for a 117 motor, especially a 4.5er!

Mike

PS, do you have a picture of your car? I love two tone.

Last run I got 8.54MPG.
Needless to say, she's sitting for a while until I do a LOT of testing and work on the EFI system

Tim:

16.85 is excellent. Mine varies between about that and 12, depending on condition and driving -- when the points were burned up, it got really bad milage, when I'm driving with good ignition to work, almost all highway, it gets about 16.

The way you drive makes a big difference -- the D-Jet will pour the fuel to it when you floor it -- there is an enrichment switch on the throttle that adds something like 10% more gas! Very hard driving will reduce your milage to something like 10.

Nice car Tim!

My gas milage is not very good right now. The two carbs are gas-hoggin' amongst other things.

Anyone know how much gas there is in the reserve, when the light comes on?

Last time my reserve light came on, I only had about 3 gallons left, if that.

That two tone w/ mini whitewalls is killing it Timmy -- good work! As far as mileage goes, I'd rather not know. It's like figuring miles / dollars spent (on everything) ratio. I'd just rather not know, you know??
