Chuck,

I recently purchased a 114 manual on ebay and it came with a 1972 supplement that has all of the emissions vacuum information. As it turned out, my hoses were connected WRONG! Let me know what you need and I can either FAX it to you or scan it in my computer and email.

Ryan

My fax number is 703 237 1386.

I would be grateful for this long-lost information. No hurry.

The definitive answer on how to do it, is to get the 114 chassis suppliment 8. Benz gave it away for free back in the mid-80s. The info was originally published in the various model year books too (70/71; 72).

As has been mentioned, it's different for each year, and it's different for each motor.

Chuck, remind me towards the end of the week, like Wednesday night, to bring those manuals into the office and fax you the relevant pages. I won't be able to do it sooner than that.

Chuck and CTH,

I will FAX what I have to you later today and you can compare it with what CTH faxes you. The manual that I have lists numerous emissions vacuum routes from 1968 - 1973. Whats more confusing is that I have '71 emissions stuff and '72 zeniths! I think I finally have this thing figured out - I hooked up the hoses the 'correct' way and the car really does run better. I was a little surprised and now I'm just hoping it improves my gas mileage a little which has been hovering around 10-11 mpg. Let me know what you find out.

Chuck,

I have the image scanned into my computer and I can't figure out how to make it small enough to upload to the page. If you give me your email address, I can send it along to you. If I don't hear from you tongiht, I will FAX it tomorrow morning. All I am including is the vacuum diagram, if you need the testing and description information, let me know.

I see from the dates of these posts, that this is quite old information. I have recently purchased a 71 250C and would also like the vacuum routing information. If anyone still has this information, or has posted it somewhere else in this forum, could you direct me in the correct direction/thread?

Thanks much!

that's because these are old cars.

Best source of the data is the shop manual CD at about 30$ from mercedes. It will also provide you with the details on carb adjustments, and other necessary things. Call them at 1-800-for-merc.

Thanks for the response! I believe that I have the mentioned CD, so I will have to dig further to uncover the routing. I am also learning in my perusal of this forum that I may be able to run without any of the emissions connected. I spent last night getting the timing and idle speed set correctly while using my new carb synchronizer. Idles great now, but doesn't do so well at speed. More fun work ahead!

Thanks!
