W108/M117 fuel regulator query

Hey all, popped the hood today after a brief run, mostly just to eyeball things and check the oil. Discovered fuel dripping very slowly from the regulator. Did not smell fuel prior and its been running fine though I still have idle troubles. When its warm and I shut down briefly, upon restart it does not want to keep running without nursing the throttle. If I just leave it running on errands everything is hunky-dory.

Are my dripping regulator and warm idle related? Checked regulator prices, can get one for $60 and change, should I just throw a new one on? And, if so, am I opening myself up for a major period of adjustment, particularly as it may interrelate with the MAP sensor?

BTW, the bolt (adjustment?) on my regulator seems like it is out pretty far, ie., I can count about 4 or 5 threads. Did not check to see if it is actually loose since I do not want to jiggle with this prior to receiving expert advice. The stopnut looks tight against the regulator body and it does not look any different than it has during my 2 mos. of ownership.

Thanx for input.

kpb

If the clamps are tight and hoses are good, replace it!
The regulator's pressure screw is usually out pretty far by the looks of it because it has a long neck.

Even by Bosch's own picture(s) it looks amazingly long! But if it leaks, and it's locked, it needs replacement.

Replace the fuel line(s) with new injector hose.
Other than that, it's really easy... I've had mine off at least twice.

Thanx again Tom, apparently I have piqued only your interest with this question. The reason I asked about adjustment was because the cutaway drawing I found in my CD shows a spring inside the regulator which is acted upon by that bolt. With my car running so well (I've not even looked at a plug or the timing) I do not want to fiddle with any adjustable stuff unless I have sufficient insight as to the potential outcomes.

Thanx again for the info.
