6.5 x 15 / 5 x 112 /49 offset 300E wheels work on a 108?
I just got a set of 4 shipped to me for $126, figured it worth the risk. 49 offset seemed suficient for the 108 chasis. Am I right?

I'm afraid you're gunna need spacers and LONG bolts
because you probably need an offset of 30mm or less. Spacers would have to be hubcentric, too. Remember that when M-B fans talk about positive offset, they mean that the centerline of the wheel is in from the centerline of the face that contacts the hub, so a bigger offset number moves the wheel farther in towards the suspension.
Even if it somehow clears all the suspension and brake parts, an ET 49 wheel will give you negative centerpoint steering, like a lot of front drivers, which may produce some odd road feel. |

In a word, no.
Way to much offset. Spacers that large are a menace to the public. If you want better rims, all the wheels used on a W123 chassis will fit. Peter

A fellow off the mercedes veteran's list, who also happens to be the son of a machinist has been selling spacers for the past few months from www.mbz.org. You can check along the bottom of the page. There's a write up there someplace. No clue if they are for your car.
There are some discussion points about making spacers, namely how should the threaded portions be set up, that kind of thing. One doesn't trust ones life to threaded aluminum with a steel bolt. -CTH |

Here is a web site that you should look on google for, it called Wayne Smith's 300 SEL 6.3, I do not know why I can not find the URL. This is an excellent 6.3 site but in reguard to wheels it gives a large number that will fit the 108, I would ASSUME they too would fit the 108, but then yoiu know the danager of assumptions.
