brake disks for w110
ok,to cut it short- Brembo catalog states that brake disks 110 421 01 12 are suitable for both w110 and w111. The OEM Ate-teves(www.ate-brakes.com) sells them as "brake disks for w111",the MB pict. catalog doesn`t even offer disks for w110. The funny thing is that they ARE absolutely identical ! Any ideas, guys?

What are you talkin about when you say "discs"?? If its pads or rotors, then the same might fit ATE Teves, Lockheeds or even Girlings.
110's went to discs in late '65 / early '66 - - - 111's went to discs at/near '63. Typical of MB, they outsourced components such as calipres and used more than one subcontractor in this regard. One of my 111's was equipped with Lockheed disc brakes. In short, there may be no official MB disc at that time...... or your 110 catalogue predates 1965..... or there were 110's that never saw discs all the way through the end of their run at 1967 or 1968. I've only owned one 110 in my life (190c) but its my favorite vintage MB of all time. Something like 150,000 were built and circulated all over the world - litterally owning the 3rd world taxicab industry of the 1960s. And all sorts of variations existed that included floor or column shift, reclining bench (entirely unique to the 110) or bucket seats, 4 cyl gas or diesel or 6 cyl gas engine...... and even a European sunroof model that apparently never saw the light of day in the USA. Hell, the wildest 110 report I've heard includes one African diesel version replete with extra large fuel tank of 1,000 mile capability, oil cooler and auxiliary radiator cooling fans which were revolutionary at that time. Hells bells, the paperwork keepin track of 110 variations has gotta be huge with this being perhaps the most widely distributed and most prolific "meat and potatos" car spanning 7 yr period that MB has ever produced. |

My information shows front disc brakes were phased into the various W110 and W111 Fintails between 1962 and 1963,
Order a pair of discs on the condition that you can return them if they don't fit or match up to your originals. What else can you do? Happy Motoring, Mark

Yep, i just checked and you are correct about the discs http://www.heckflosse.nl/tech4.htm .....although my own '63 190c never had em.
Hell, I've always figured that discs didnt appear until the 200 along with other improvements on 2nd generation 110's that included flow-through ventilation, 3 speed heater fan with variable setting, 3-spd windshield wipers that included intermittent, and in addition to the amazing lovers lane reclining bench of some models - total use of reclinable bucket seats, instead of earlier versions that were sometimes fixed, plus a couple of small fender chrome strips. For sure, my primitive taxi model 190c is one car I'll never forget. |

240DieselDog,
You probably had an early '63 190c. The 190s were the last to get front discs, in August of '63. I don't remember intermittent wipers on the '66 W110 230, that I usd to own, but that was 23 years ago. My '60 220S has the infinitely variable heater blower control. (Something that requires a computer chip on modern cars) Only Benz I've had with a front bench seat was my Ponton 180b. Unfortunately, being the cheapie model, It didn't recline. It also became very uncomfortable after the drivers seat area split open and I wound up sitting on the imitation horsehair. Taught me how to sew upholstery! Happy Motoring, Mark
