Iam thinking of parting this car, built 9/71 not sure right now if it is a '72 or '71 model... Is there any interest in this car for parts??

Mine's a 10/71 and a '72 model year. Check the emmisions plate under the hood (left side of the hood latch) - it should say which model year its emmisions are applicable to.

Someone's ALWAYS interested in an extra parts car or maybe even getting it back on the road!

Check the plate on the door. It has the manufacturing date. If it says 7/71 or later, it's a 1972 model. Model years started production in July for benz.

That and there were no 1971 model year 280se 4.5's. -CTH

If there's no rust on it, and it runs well...

Keep it or sell it, or fix it some and sell it! No reason to part out a vehicle with plenty of years left.

After a few hours of "re-start" prep, it fired-up! But only with gas or starting fluid in the throttle body. The fuel pump works and there is plenty of pressure at the injectors..... Do I just hit the computer box with a hammer to get it to work or should I look for something else wrong???

Check the trigger point plug (in the dizzy) and the ground wires for the injectors (behind the batt) - take the grounds off and clean, then reattatch them.

If it still doesnt fire, take the dizzy out and manually clean the trigger points with a business card or other similar thing (NO sandpaper)

I say drive, drive, drive that sonofa*****..... transfer plates and insurance from your daily driver and purge the fuel feed on your new car with long haul and daily runs. I've got no doubt in the world that startup problems are entirely related to non-use of the vehicle...... cobwebs in the system.

Otherwise another feature of the electric fuel pump, if thats what this car has, is that you've gotta wait a minute after turning the key to build up pressure.
