Chrome on 116
How much chrome is there. Which parts of the outside on the w116 chassis is actual chrome. I have noticed that some things like the grill under the windshield is polished aluminum and the outer rim on the a pillars seems to be too. I am repainting the car black and want to remove as much shiny as I can. Although I dont want to paint over chrome and realize that it doesnt stick and have to clean up and stuff.
Thanks, Peter |

Black and sliver are a perfect combination. It's all anodized aluminum except for the grill shell, bumpers and the side moulding. -CTH

Side moldings are stainless steel - and verrry expensive if you crimp them taking them off and on. Used to be on finbodies that you would 'unbutton' the strips with broad flathead screwdriver or stiff putty knife, same as removing interior door panel. Probably the same on the 116 unless they fit into slide groove. You can expect to sacrifice several plastic buttons in the process.
