Broken parking brake
My parking brake failed the other day. After jacking it up, I saw it was the lever gadget that connects the two cables for the rear wheel with the single cable to the foot pedal. It had all come loose, resting on he exhaust pipes.
The Haynes manual for this car ('72 W114) shows a slightly different construction. However, the W123 manual (not Haynes)shows exactly how it's built. My problem is that I can't figure out if something has broken off (rust...) or if it could be screwed in place. Does anyone have a picture of what it's supposed to look like? I could try to fix some pictures of how it looks now. Olof Winterfjord |

Dunno if this is gonna help.... but long time ago the harness rusted off from subframe on my 190b. It ended up just dangling - but the emergency brake still worked.
If the rear yoke harness has become detached from the front cable, it could be something really simple such as displaced cable attatchment. It sounds like a simple fix - if you can get the car on a lift. Caution is that you've got driveshaft underneath that can snag the cable and raise hell. |
