I'm back, but for a bad reason

Hey, it has been a while since I have been on here. The reason I am back is tell you all that someone just broke off my hood ornament. I am very angry right now, and if I find out who it was, I am going to get out my good-ol' baseball bat show them a thing or two about ass-whoopings. I have always thought that this is the most disrespectful thing you can do to someone. I hope it was some little punk kid who was jealous that I have a much nicer car than him, because I am sure that I do. I just needed to vent about this, and I figured why not go to the old buddies on the forum.
Later
Tim

Hello,
If it is any consolation, I have had the hood *star* broken off, right front door hit with a rock and a flat tire on my W115 in just this month! Vandalism knows no boundaries.
I count myself lucky that the door mirror or windshield was not broken. For the time being, I try to park the car where I can keep an eye on it. It all happened in the same place.
Mercedes hood *stars* have always been a target for vandals, my dad's 170DS hood star was broken at least three times, IIRC, and that one is an expensive piece of metal.
Take care.

I've had a few stars ripped off (literally) over the years. Sometimes, if I have to leave my Benz someplace where I can't keep an eye on it, I pull the clip and remove the entire star and dummy radiator cap (easier than trying to remove only the star).

In the past, I've fantasised about rigging the star with a spare ignition coil to zap sticky fingers (but the irritated vandal would probably take his frustration out on my windsheild!)
It would probably be fairly easy to hook the star up to a car alarm.

Awhile back, there was a TV bit from South Africa showing a late model BMW equipped with an under-car flamethrower, designed to incinerate carjackers and other nearby hoodlums.

Happy Motoring, Mark

now that you've vented, get over it (unless you find the sob .

If you want to get creative, somewhere on the web is a schematic of how to turn the hood star into a switch that activates the horn. -CTH

He also has a 3" long scratch under his driver's door handle that looks as if it were from a key. Before I bought my car, someone tried to scratch a swastika in the roof. It's still there, but enough scrubbing with paint compunds has it about off. Tim called me as soon as he got home to tell me. I then responded with my bad news about over-heating my brother's 190D. (my mom did it, not me, I watch gauges like a hawk)
Thanks
David

Years back, when the 4.5 was our primary family car and still in pretty good condition aestetically, we had 3-4 hood ornaments ripped off. Two or three were in West Side Scranton (don't remember how many), 1 right in front of our church at 4:30 mass on a Saturday. The other one was ripped off it while my mom was parked at work.
To add insult to injury, that day they also slashed 3 of her tires (it was Memorial day or Vet's day, I forget, school was out... and she worked near the "project" section of Wilkes-Barre, right by Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., next to the Pepsi bottling plant... not being racist, dunno if the street was named that DELIBERATLEY or not by the heads of the city (McGroarty), it's Main Ave, but that area is the WORST section and notorious for the project housing there and the incidents that go on there... and although black people do live there, so do a lot of white trash, and elderly people.

Tom, look for an old man who has a three-pointed star bolted onto his walker.

My dad had a friend that had that zap mechanism put on his old Cadillac because of people trying to take the emblem. I do like that flame thrower idea. Hmmmm. When I get my alarm, I will see about having it also put on the star.

Old or not, he'll need more than a walker when I'm done with him!
Star or ornament? The first one (car's original) was broken, all they actually got out was the 3-pointed star, the center ring was still on!

Hi

Reminds me of when Michael Fay was caned/flogged here in Singapore for spray painting grafitti on an S-Class. Lots of protests in the US and the president himself put in a good word for him, I recall. To put things in perspective, an S Class after tax can cost as much as a small house in the US (about USD200K).

In some areas of the US, 200K can still get a pretty big house. We should have public caning here for brats like Michael Fay - perhaps we could make it a new 'reality' TV show.

House I just moved out of went for less than $200K, not sure what but I don't think it was over $150K! 10 acres, 18th-century schoolhouse redone in Victorian style... And GOD, you wouldn't believe the shrubs around it, it looked overgrown until I killed the bees nests and was able to prune them! Course, most people are moving OUT of PA, especially this area, so homes are cheap...

I wonder if that house sold enough to buy that 3.5 on eBay (for what the guy wants for it)... spent $300K on it my @**!
