1977 280se. this car has been in my garage for a couple of years when i noticed gas tank braided fuel line was leaking. i replaced new. i tried starting car, no good. when i turn ignition key to the on position i do not hear the fuel pump humming. is there a fuel pump fuse relay? if so can you tell me where it is located. is there anything else that i should check?? .. thanks

The easiest way to check the fuel pump is to apply 12V from a spare battery directly to the pump terminals.....disconnect the connections first to isolate any other problems............if the pump runs the relay is the next place to look
I would strongly advise getting a manual or CD with a wiring diagram.......the position of the fuel pump relay should be shown On my 1978 280CE (w123) jumping the #30 terminal to +12v bypasses the control circutry to run the pump without the ignition........it is probably the same on your 1977 280SE If you are trying to get this car started after not being run for a few years, I have lots of advice from my own experience............ link to my thread re getting my 1978 280CE started after not being used for 5yrs |
