Peter, Thanks for asking. I stopped in at the shop last Friday at lunchtime to check on it myself. The owner said that he has been too busy fixing other Benzes to get at working on my rear axle.
When I dropped the home made tool off to him a couple of weeks ago, he was out getting sandwiches for the crew, I went over to the bench where my rear was resting and fit the tool to the slip joint just to make sure it would fit ok. A few minutes later the owner drove into the shop with lunch and came over to see what I was doing. His face lit up with a big smile when he saw the tool on the slip joint. He said that should get it (the slip joint) out of there. He said that things where slowing down a bit and he might be able to get at it this week. |
Request update
Hope you can give an update on how the tool worked.

Roy,
The tool worked as intended. The finished product can be seen at this thread if you didn't see it or for those newer members who might be interested. Thanks for asking, 280SE Guy |
I can say that I never use Lock Tight on anything. I'm more interested in getting things apart again at some later date. If anything, I use more anti seize than anything else.
I sure as hell wouldn't use it inside of the rare axel. Those things can be difficult enough to work on, why add an extra element? |
