My 63' Finback is finished.

Well, here she is

I must say, ive had a lot of fun fixing this car up.. I bought a parts car (which had black leather) so that i could swap interiors and a few other pieces..

The car is soo much fun to drive around, its awesome.. There are a few things i need to address, but nothing serious.

I'm one happy camper

In this era of disposable jelly-bean cars, you gotta love those fins. And they're really very usefull. I can actually see the rear corners on my Fintail when I'm backing up!

Hhaha.. i used to have a surfboard but i had to sell it

There are a few "little" things i have to address, but nothing tooo bad..

I think the clutch is going, so im prolly gonna order a new one.. One of the tierods on the right side in the front is bad, and i have this weird lighting problem..

Apparently, when ever im driving the car and shift, the reverse lights blink on.. hahha.. I'm guessing is one of the contacts/terminals in the shifting mech. thats needs to be looked at..

Annnnnnnnnd.. i need to get another muffler in the back, seeing as i cut off the factory one since it has a zillion holes in it

Well, if you still have the center muffler, you could just put a straight pipe on the rear. Might sound more sporty that way.
Do fix the tie rod before you get a nasty suprise!

Happy Motoring, Mark

'63 Fintail

Funny, 63 feet long...

Nice looking car. Looks like the two I had, the 220SE and the 230S. Both black with red interior.

If it's an early '63, check the reverse light switch on the shift linkage at the firewall, and if a late '63, the switch is on the top of the trans.

Dual circuit brakes or single? 1963 is a year of change for them. It's referred to as first version or second version. I still have my service manual and valve adjusting tool.

Grease those joints!

I think it looks a little naked with the bare wheel covers. You should paint them whenever you get a chance. I like the way MB covers look on these cars.
Thanks
David

It does need the trim rings, doesn't it.
