Dyeing door panels?

I am wanting to change my door panels from the camel brown to a grey. I have heard you can have them re-dyed, but dunno who does this, and what color changes can be made. Can you go from a camel brown to a light grey, or can you only go from lighter to darker? Who would I contact to do this?

Our original interior was/is camel brown with chocalate brown trim (So UGLY! I HATE Brown!!!!!!) We are switching to light grey with black trim......

All info on making this switch this that you can give me would be appreciated......

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

it can be done, but it can wear thru in high traffic areas, so its better not to make a big change.

but it isnt exactly rocket science either, i redied the door panels on one of my rx7's about 5 years ago with some spraycan stuff, and its still holding up

And if you've never removed MB door panels, use our search engine to find out how its done. There are a couple of tricks involved, including removal of corner window knob insert which is designed to be poked out through a small hole on the reverse side of it.

Without hesitation I'd go ahead and change colors on door panels, probably preferring multiple layers of vinyl spray coat instead of thin dye.

and if it was me, I'd leave that chocolate brown strip alone because it matches the dash board top.
I already have that part taken care of too, because i am changing the actual dash board out to a black one (not spraying it).

For a non-wear surface, like door panels, you can use SEM Color Coat, comes in about 40 colors in spray cans. For a wear surface, like seats, you need SEM SureCoat, which comes in 9 colors and you mix to match. More info at SEMproducts.com

The ONLY surfaces we will be spraying in the car are the "non-wear" sort, because all of the rest of the original interior (seats, carpet, etc) is going bye bye. So the only real concern we had left was the door panels. However, we may have them custom upholstered in time cuz they're just so boring and bland looking, but for now, are going to spray the ones we have and make due with them. Thanks for the link for the spray... I'll check it out!
