It seems like most 170 project cars surface in Texas. I saw a pair of them going for peanuts on ebay from the lone star state not so long ago.
Let me guess, soldiers originally from Texas returned from extended WWII duty overseas at Germany and snuck them into the USA? Otherwise it's unclear to me whether or not MB dealerships even existed in America at that time or sold the amazing suicide door sedans and coupes here at all.
What exactly are you looking for? One 220SE Coupe thread names somebody in one of the pics who can do an imaculate upholstery restoration to original specs.
If it's dashboard knobs and guages that need restoration/replacement, then you might have better luck searching among later edition Ponton cars from 1953-1961 which were actually available on the US market.
Working on an Historic Vehicle has gotta be challenging. Have heard of some people who end up manufacturing their own parts in many cases.
Got my car (W111 coupe) back from the Shop! Picture inside....
