Hey everyone..

Just wondering where i can get some new carpeting for my car.. I really need new front floor mats and the tranny tunnel carpeting..

Any ideas?

Is that the car that was bought from a yard for like a grand? If so, even if not, did you have it painted? What does a paint job like that run? Have you done any of the window seals?

Norbtx probably provides links for the safest way to go. Or try pulling the existing carpeting and take it to carpet shop as templates for replacement bits in whatever dense short haired or loop style carpeting that you want, respecting thickness tolerances for clearance under door sill edges, center 'console' tray etc.

Probably the toughest piece to match will be the section over the tranny tunnel which should probably be OEM. Or if the old one is just faded and not worn out - it could be dyed to original color.

I think it takes special tools for them to cut rugs accurately. Meanwhile you can prep and repaint the sheetmetal underneath and think about dense foam liner as noise suppressor over floorpan flats while driving around on naked sheet metal.

Is that the car you restored yourself awhile ago?

Well, i bought the car for about $1300 bucks and have spent quite a long time getting it all back in one piece

I was lucky on the paint thou, the car was repainted about 10 years ago and thats the paint that you see.. I thought i'd give that TV commercial add stuff a try, "Paint restorer" or something like that.. It came out alot better than i was hoping!!

Just like any new paint job, a good job (IE good prep work etc) will prolly cost 2-7k depending on what your after..

Thanks for the tips kind sir!! Yea, most of the carpeting is gnarly but should be alright to use for templates..

Ive been "restoring" this car for about 2-3 months now..

As for the depthness of the squares on the grille, im not sure

Ill have to go take a look at lunch or something..

What kind of carpet should be used? I am still running rubber floors in my fintail, which was a mistake. They were pretty mint when I bought the car 10 years ago, but now there's a crack where the rubber goes from ribbed to smooth, because of 8 years of daily driver use, no doubt. Shame on me. I've thought about coco mats or something.

My rear floors have old style carpet inserts, they match the hump carpet, came with the car. Do they still make stuff like that? I dunno if they are visible in these shots:

$1300 for a rust free car that could pretty well run on it's own? Yikes, I wish I could find one like yours for $1500 around here. If anyone ever finds one, PLEASE let me know. I really don't mind getting my hands dirty, REALLY! I really do envy you and I wish you and your car the best of luck.
