Milage increase?

I've been getting a whiff of gasoline smell on the 280 on startup lately, and sometimes when I fill it up.

Saw a gas cap on eBay for cheap and got it (really an old style oil filler, but I think they are the same anyway), so that seems to have cured the fillup odor.

Popped the hood today after moving the car to the garage from the front drive so I could vacuum the fertilizer is spilled back there (don't ask) and sure enough, gas all over the front of the ring main on the left side. Lots of red residue, to. Hmmm

The short bit of fuel line looked pretty old, so I fished around in the garage and found some new line. Squeezed the old one and gas sprayed out all over the front injector -- injectors don't leak as they are only about 5 years old.

New line doesn't dribble, and the pressure stays up now. Wonder what this is gonna do for the fuel milage? I'll replace the piece to the right side when I get around to buying some, the stuff I had wasn't long enough to do both sides.

At least now it is somewhat less likely to catch fire.

Peter

Hey man, I don't know what your are planning on doing with that fertilizer, but whatever it is your building, don't do it. We need you here.

More like the fat man needs to look before hauling a 50lb plastic bag of lawn fertilizer out of the trunk by dragging it over the back (the only way I can get it out, I can't LIFT it out!).

Jack holder clips did a number on it, dumped a couple pounds of 12-12-12 in there. No way I'm gonna leave it, it has PLENTY of rust now!
